What happens after approval?

The fostering application can take around 6 months, it’s a lengthy process.

If you’ve applied and completed your Form F, the next stage is to attend panel. The panel will decide whether or not you should be a foster carer. So what happens after approval?

This is an exciting time for new foster carers. Once approved, you can expect to start your first placement. As soon as we find a placement we think you would be well suited to, you can put your fostering skills into practice!

It’s important to remember that you won’t be alone, when you are fostering. You’ll be assigned a social worker, who will be there, should any issues arise. Here at GLF, we run a 24 hour system, so there is always someone you can talk to.
