What checks are carried out during my fostering assessment?

When recruiting foster carers, we need to be sure that we are choosing the right people. There are several checks by law that we need to carry out on all applicants to foster. These include:

  • Police check
  • Checks with the local authority you live in, and have previously lived
  • If you have children, then we’d ask for references from their schools
  • Employers reference
  • Personal references from people you know

By gathering all this information we can be sure that the people we approve as foster carers, are going to offer safe and caring environments to foster children.
