Can I foster if I have a criminal conviction?
The answer may surprise you…
If you have a criminal record, this doesn’t automatically mean you won’t be able to be a foster carer. Whether or not your conviction will be an issue, depends on the nature of the crime, and how long ago it was.
The only direct no is when the crime was of a sexual nature or against a child.
Other than this, we will assess each person in context. As long as you are honest with us, we will judge you fairly.
