Fostering isn’t easy, as a carer you will need support from your family, your friends and of course the agency you decide to foster for. This is why it’s so important to find the right foster care agency for you. It’s not always easy to understand the difference between them, so here are some key things to look out for.
What is their Ofsted rating? and what does the ofsted report say? Every fostering agency has an Ofsted rating, which is either Inadequate, Requires improvement, Good or Outstanding!
What level of support do they offer? Some agencies have a very hands off approach to supporting their carers, or only offer a “duty” out of hours service. Others, like GLF, allow you to contact your supervising social worker 24/7.
Are there offices near you? You will have to go to the office to attend training and meetins, probably a few times a year, so you need to make sure you can get there easily.
How much money do you receive? You’d be amazed in the different levels of money foster agencies give.
